Sir C. V. Raman discovered an effect in spectroscopy which is known as Raman effect. This epoch making discovery has revolutionized spectroscopic research. Within two years of discovery, Prof. C. V. Raman received the Nobel Prize for physics in 1930. This shows how rapidly this discovery is approved by the physics community. With the advent of laser Raman effect proliferated as an analytical tool in molecular structure. Raman discovered this effect as a passionate researcher out side an administrative job, but later relinquished the job in pursuit of research. This presentation gives a glimpse of his life and work. His passion for research will be a source of inspiration to all pursuing research in any field of science. He appreciates integrity and honesty, punctual in his work, great teacher.
This is a humble tribute to the Great Saga of Indian Science. In India, February 28 is celebrated as 'National Science Day' in honor of the great discovery. (Courtesy YouTube)
