The Nation remembers Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary today. Born on October 31, 1875 at Nadiad, in the Kaira district of Gujarat, Vallabh Bhai Patel was the son of Zaverbhai Galabhai Patel , a Leva Patidar. This class of cultivators was known for their simple character, industrious habits and straightforward dealings. Vallabh Bhai possessed an ingenious mind as a school boy. He was a rebel whose exceptional organisational abilities were recognised by his schoolmates and teachers The impact of Gandhiji's personality on Vallabhbhai was tremendous. It gave him a new mission in life. The Champaran struggle waged by Gandhiji had a sweeping effect on Patel's mind. In Gandhiji's Champaran victory Patel saw the beginning of a new agrarian revolution.
On the eve of their departure, the British government announced that its paramount would lapse not only over the British territory but even over the native States . This meant that as many as 625 small and big native States would become independent like India and Pakistan. Consequently, the country would be divided into a number of small and big units.
A man of iron will and absolute fearlessness, Sardar Patel tackled the question of these big and small native states in such a strategic manner which left even his wildest critics in complete amazement. Almost within a year he redrew the map of India with every princely State joining the Indian union and thus, forming part of the political stream of life that was endowed with cultural unity and harmony.

Storyline :-
Radha [usha kiran]earns a living begging in order to support herself and her crippled and ailing father. They live in a small tenement, under the constant threat of eviction by their landlord for unpaid rent for several months. One day, while begging, Radha meets a young man, Nirmal Chander[Dev anand], who would like to see her improve her status by getting employment, he even goes to the extent of assisting her find work in a mill. He subsequently invites her over to meet his mother, and asks her to marry him, to which she agrees. Nirmal also seeks the permission of her dad. When he goes to get her to make arrangements for their marriage, he finds her and her dad gone. His attempts to locate her are in vain. Then after several months he finds her living in a small dilapidated hut with a young man named Mastram and a child - she calls her own - but claims that she is unmarried. This documentary film( film number-816B) had been a big headache for
the Govt of India. On 28/05/1964,Netaji, along with some Buddhist Monks arrived at the Teenmurthy Bhawan(the mortal body of Nehru was kept there) on three taxis...time was approx 11am...Shri Gulzarilal Nanda was then the interim Prime Minister of India...Shri Lalbahadur Shastri was given the responsibility to welcome/handle V.I.P Guests...From the taxi,Netaji sent an envelope to Shri Shastri and Shri Shastri came running to welcome him...Then Lalbahadurji and Netaji went inside the Teenmurthy Bhawan...After sometime,Shri Shastri escorted Netaji back to the taxi...After that Netaji arrived beside Nehru's body and offered a giant garland of roses as homage...Netaji also added a note to the garland in English...The note said,"Another name of Jawaharlal Nehru is courage.Let us confront the crisis of our nation for the future of India"...The note was undersigned as 'Subhas Chandra Bose'. Now,let us discuss about the consequences of that documentary film...It gave rise to a huge uproar across the country...Not only did it shook India,waves hit beyond Indian boundary...80 Members of Parliament visited PM Shri Lalabahadur Shastri and proclaimed that the Monk was Netaji SubhasChandra Bose,without any shadow of doubt...Shastriji could not reply anything ever!...This photograph also sent a ripple in England...It was published in very important newspapers like Daily Mail,London Times etc,with a caption - 'Tell India!Who is this Swamiji!'. Now,what did the Govt of India do?...They had been shaken to such an extent that the part of that film was totally censored...As I have earlier mentioned that the documentary film(film number-816B) has been a big headache for the Govt of India,they wanted to bury it once and for all...In that effort,a so called 'Cambodian Monk' called Veera Dhammavara was sent to the Khosla commission in 1974 during the final session,to misguide/bluff the commission...Veera Dhammavara story turned out to be a superflop,as it should!
